Barriers and double relay – a novelty in the CSI programme
The summer, unique edition of CAVALIADA, which will take place on the beach in Świnoujście on 22-25 June, requires a unique program. We already know what the organisers have planned for the competitors and fans of the most popular equestrian competition – show jumping.
The prize pool in the CSI competition will exceed PLN 400,000. As previously reported to the calendar of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), the competition is divided into three categories.
- The most prestigious competitions will be held within CSI2*. Two of them (Friday's Big Round and Sunday's Grand Prix) will count towards the FEI Ranking. The pool of prizes in each of these competitions is as much as PLN 109,000. The competition will be complemented by the Medium Round (135 cm), which will end on Saturday with the final competition (140 cm), and the Speed and Music competition (135 cm) – says Szymon Tarant, Sports Director of CAVALIADA Tour.
Significant changes took place in the case of special competitions. On Friday, the Power of the Jump will be replaced by a barrier competition. Here, fans will be able to admire not only the strength of the horses, but also their agility and fitness. In the barrier competition, there are a series of obstacles to overcome in a line at a distance of two strides of the horse's gallop, with the last obstacle being the highest. In addition to the basic run, up to four competitions are allowed, during which the height of the obstacles increases. This type of competition is dedicated to powerful horses, but also those that compete in Grand Prix competitions on a daily basis. Another novelty will be the relay. On Thursday evening, as part of the jumping competition, a competition for two-person teams will be held.
CSI1* will include one round at 130cm. However, two rounds (110 and 120) for less advanced competitiors will be held as part of the Sunrise Tour.
